lol yes technically its cheating, although is killing your teammate technically cheating (or at least trolling). A sever could stop it pretty easy, just by keeping tabs on where projectiles are in the world (by running their own simulations based on the info received). But as far as i know, no server does that yet :)

yes if its turned on but most server have it turned off. What they should be doing is running their own version of projectile (class) on the server, (along with doing a raycube test) to double check the hits that get sent to the server, (by the shooting client). Just to stop people from shooting out of their @$$ and what not :) I do believe that the hop mod does do a dist check between the players and all of its hits, so you cant be hit with the chainsaw from halfway across the map ;)

But ya it makes regen capture way better when you can shoot at the one red guy around your base with a rocket, with out having to worrie about team killing all the other people recharging at that base :) So ya its probably cheating, but the good kind of cheating :)

meh, its just improving the gameplay flow, its not like i made it so that the player cant damage himself (aka free infinite rocket jumping). This stops people from standing by the base and everyone just spawned at and killing 5 people because they are all shooting rockets at eachother, it makes the game much better, so i would say not cheating. And if a server would want to stop it, it would be extremely easy, I could even write the code for them :p so i think its just forcively improving the game play, for everyone, so the real question is:
Is it cheating, if every one that your playing with is having more fun because of your feature

Ps i will be releasing a patch that will allow you to turn on and off the tking protection. This way people can write their own scripts as to whether they want to turn it off based on mode or based on weapon. Or just want to leave it on or off regardless.

Ps: i made some improvement to the shaders, making them more cartoony (comments are very welcome):

NOTE: the images are much darker than it is ingame, (it always does this), it is a celi-hack shader for the marching cube mesh. You will notice a subtle difference this difference is much more obvious in game, and can be increased or decreased in the shader.

i have to agree with assk. turning off teamkills is cheating... its takes away the natural elements of things like explosions. for modes like efficiency where there can be groups of players in an area and anti-team kill could just allow for a rocket to be tossed into the mob whilst only hurting the enemy. so be it if there are trolls its all part of the game

lolz if the game was written better they wouldn't exist :) but ya i wont bitch :P i still dont see it as a cheat so its staying, you can turn it on or off at your own risk :)

This reminds me of a compass with ally positions that was in my last sauerx release (for justice), which ironically made it into collect. And if i remember correctly every one claimed it was cheating too :P so, maybe when the next release we'll have a similar feature :)

Well, some modes just need team-damage (everything other than insta-modes), while others don't (like insta-modes). Else people will use weapons even less mindless as they do already (just spamming rockets at bases on capture as your teammate would nearly always capture the base as the opponents can't reach it).
I think it becomes time for another monthly poll...

I thnk that in that case you should snipe the guy standing still poping grenades, or just take the grenade base instead of focussing on the base thats being bombed then you can bomb the base, and take it back.

The way i understand how capture works is that bases are (or should be) captured in a general order, they are place in a way to allow bases to shoot at each other, so trying to take a base thats clearly being bombarded, is stupid, my mod or not. If this is such a big deal to you, write a server mod to stop it :P it would take 3 hrs maybe :)

Honestly it changes gameplay slightly (but i doubt there are that many people downloading my mod that it would really matter). But it doesnt by any means breaks it, just stops you from dying, in cases where you had no means to stop it. Which is an improvement, people should be able to realize what they did wrong when they die, they shouldnt dye by a grenade spam from there teammate.

it is a fast paced game, so yes you are gonna fire fast, move fast, etc. it not mindless, its reactionary. Ive played with this mod, it doesnt cause me to mindlessly spam my weapon. I aim at a player and try to hit him, not my teammates, the only difference is that when i miss i dont get people mad at me because i killed them. People that stand there and spam the grandes from the grenade base, are gonna do that regardless if they are kill there teammates or not, and honestly you can just avoid there grenades and snipe them in the head, or sneak up behind them. Grenades do very lil damage comparely to any other weapon in the game, it is not an issue.

it did at first i removed it, promptly, because of the out cry. This is different, it doesnt give a person an ability or an advantage, it just stop people from dying or being damaged unnecessarily.

It was cheating because it gave the sauerx users an advantage over the users of the regular client. Now that it's implemented in the official release everyone has that feature and no one has an advantage. A cheat is a modification whichs gives the user an advantage over the others, something everyone has is no longer a cheat.
If teamdamage was disabled either on the official release or at least for everyone on the server it wouldn't be cheating as no one has an advantage, but using a modified client that disables teamdamage to play with unmodified clients who do not have that feature is clearly cheating as it gives you an unfair adavantage over the others. You can use weapons with large spray patterns like the shotgun or explosives with splash damage without having to worry about killing teammates standing near your actual target. You can also pre-shoot rockets and grenades mindless as they will only hurt the enemy team. Your enemys however can not do such things (what is a disadvante for them), unless they want to risk losing teammates what gives their whole team a disadvantage and lowers the chances of winning the game.

Still, it's a great mod you made there, but that one feature clearly is a cheat, even if it was never intended to be. I think it would be better to remove it from your mod for now and maybe ask our main developer to include that feature in an official release or use a modified server so the conditions are the same for everyone.

though in the past, modded servers that affect gameplay have been banned because they do not represent the native game
